I currently use the free K9 web protection filter as the (only) internet filter on my computer. My problem is that sometimes I will be able to access sites whose categories I have blocked and I don't understand why? Can someone help me, I have heard that this has to do with something called secure requests but I havent quite got it yet. I especially have a problem with Youtube.
Secondly is it possible to create a whitelist on K9, maybe that will solve the problem. However I cannot find a whitelist option.
Thanks in advance!

Since I wrote the last answer about 4 years, I have come across a fantastic filter called Net Nanny that is the only filter that I know that filters secure HTTPS traffic too (rather then blocking access to the whole site). I have tested it out and because it is installed on your computer it reads the secure traffic after it is downloaded and filters it well.
I made the successful switch to Net Nanny and it is an excellent filter.
